The Serpentine in Hyde Park, London

The Christmas Day race at The Serpentine in London’s Hyde Park is an annual event held by the Serpentine Swimming Club since 1864.  Swimmers brave the icy water of the Serpentine lake for the 100-yard course Christmas Day race for the Peter Pan cup.

J M Barrie, the Scottish dramatist best known for writing Peter Pan in 1904, became associated with the Christmas Day race in 1903.  He was a sponsor of the 1913 Christmas Day race and the first donor of the Peter Pan cup.

An elegant and understated headpiece from the Nuvolette Collection.  Mesmerising feather swirls on a yellow sinamay base. Hand made with feathers from the supremely elegant swans at The Serpentine in Hyde Park, London.
